 Building Web Pages

So you want to build a web page.  Personal web pages are a great way to share information with others.  Also, they are great ways to present students' work, keep parents informed, or to just enhance learning and make it fun.   Making your own web page is a lot easier than some might think.  If you are able to use a word processor, you will be able to make a web page.  This guide will provide you with the basic information you need to get started.  There are also books you can order through this site for a more in-depth guide.

First, you need a program to compile the HTML codes for you.   If you want to know a little more about HTML (not really needed though) you can look at Chris HTML Tutorial Center. To give you a rough idea, HTML is the language that browsers use to read information on web pages.  Programs available today calculate the HTML for you behind the scenes.   In this fashion, you work through an interface similar to a word processing program, while the difficult tasks are handled by the HTML program.  Look below for various HTML editors, including some formidable free ones.

Next, you will need to find a home for your page.  There are many good free homes for your page.  All you have to do is design the page on your computer, sign up for a free home, and send your page there.  You can update it at anytime.  Look below for free web page hosting.  Let's get started.
